PHOENIX H2O was created through the NSRDEC (U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Center) and funded through the Sustainability, Logistics, Expeditionary Basing, Science & Technology Center with a goal to improve the quality life for populations worldwide. PHOENIX H2O is built around a powerful photovoltaic renewable energy platform that has the capabilities to produces enough energy to purify up to 30,000 liters per 24 hour period. eNdoto Corp is a Connecticut organization with over 30 years of experience in innovating products for roadway safety and government facilities. Over the years the organization has been recognized for its outstanding efforts to continuously improve current materials and processes while building a platform to provide sustainable solutions in technology.
eNdoto has developed several divisions that address specific market demands. The Phalanx Safety division provides security and safety solutions to military and other Government organizations around the world - products that protect and save lives, like the Phoenix H2O systems.
No one is better at providing water, food, power and shelter to personnel living in harsh conditions than the US Army. Much of this support has historically been trucked in from large bases in the rear. This means convoys of vehicles moving supplies forward and waste rearwards – easy targets for attack. To reduce the threat to these ‘soft targets’ of resupply convoys, local resources must be used whenever possible and the need for moving supplies back and forth minimized.
This means that water and power have to sourced close to the point of use and that back load of waste must be avoided.
These requirements prompted the US DOD, through the Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) to develop innovative modular systems that can produce drinking water from local sea or ground water, that can derive their own power from renewable energy sources (solar and wind) and that can reduce liquid and solid waste by recycling water for reuse and destroying black water (human waste) locally. The government canvassed universities and the industrial sector for systems to meet their needs to provide water and other hygiene solutions to support sustainable living for the troops no matter where they were in the world.
After review of all submitted innovations, NSRDEC chose Phoenix H2O technologies for further
development as the most innovative state of the art sustainable living systems. The family of modular pods was named “Milhut -Minimized Logistic Habitat Units”. The Phoenix H2O pods are direct descendants of the systems developed under these contracts.
Today Phoenix H2O has several model pods that scale to the population size and mission that they are supporting, be it an ongoing requirement at a small village, to a high demand disaster relief application.
For example, the Phoenix H2O centers can be placed throughout an area creating multiple water source locations throughout a village, town or city. This reduces dependency on a single source and simplifies water distribution and supply of portable water to families, homes and refuge centers.
Phoenix H2O was created in memory of those who have lost their life at an early age due to the lack of technology and humanitarian efforts.
